Welcome to The Republic!
As I am guessing you probably want to know a bit about me, let me provide a (very) brief background. 🙂 I grew up during the 70s and 80s in the suburbs of Pittsburgh PA. After I graduated high school, I went to college for a year and struggled with the college environment. So I joined the Air-force and worked on F-16 in Arizona. After I got out, I went to tech school for information management, ie computers. I got married, have 3 kids and a dog. I eventually got my Bachelors Degree too. I now work as a software engineer and consultant.
As far as “Politics”, I have always had some interest in politics. My favorite comic book characters as a kids and even now is Captain America. I always loved his patriotism, defense of freedom, and his moral/ideological purity. Something that is truly lacking from people and politics in general. As I have gotten older, my interests turned to history, more specifically American colonial/revolutionary history. I have really come to appreciate the wisdom of Thomas Jefferson.
While most of my life I have identified myself as Republican, I have always leaned to the more tradition Libertarian side. As I got older, the more I continued to lean Libertarian, until I left entirely a few years ago. It was not necessarily because I became less Republican but more because the Republican party in general became more liberal. Now I am libertarian but I would call myself a “Constitutional Libertarian” in the fact I believe the government should operate within the defined constraints of the Constitution. I believe governments sole purpose is to protect and secure our rights, not find ways to take them away in the name of security or fairness.
“It is to secure our rights that we resort to government at all.” ~ Thomas Jefferson
And that is a little bit about me. Feel free to contact me if you with any questions.
